Kasten to resign after 2010 Season

-Stan Kasten announced yesterday that he will step down as President of the Washington Nationals.  Kasten has been President of the club since 2006.  Mr. Kasten hasn’t announced his future plans or if he plans on retaining his ownership stake in the Nationals.

Kasten was part of the group led by Ted Lerner that won the bid to buy the Nationals from “Major League Baseball”, and according to Mr. Lerner “Stan Kasten will always be an important part of the history of the Washington Nationals”.

Mr Kasten stated that he would stay with the Nationals for five years (through 2010), and has decided not to stay any longer.  According to Kasten, “It’s just time to be doing something else”.  So the end of the season will be the end of this chapter of his life.  He did go on to say “This has nothing to do with anybody else or anything else. This is about me, what’s good for me and my family and my own personal expectations, goals, aspirations, purely that and nothing else.”
